Week 10
Due to Haiti's location, they are susceptible to a numerous amount of extreme weather events. The most infamous one being the 2010 earthquake is easily the most devastating and notorious for the country's history. But due to being so close to the equator, they are also prone to dealing with hurricanes, tropical storms, and heavy rain. The last major hurricane to hit Haiti was hurricane Matthew on October 4, 2016. In 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the western part of the country, being the second biggest earthquake in the country's history behind the 2010 earthquake. Because of the island's location, being extremely close to the equator as well as it's tectonic plates, it makes Haiti extremely venerable to potentially very harmful extreme weather events.

Isaiah, I recall heavy rain and floods that killed many people in Haiti sometime in 2023. It seems like Haiti's location leave it vulnerable to so many disasters. I imagine Haiti gets many thunderstorms too, because of the hot, humid weather. From the little I know about Haiti, it's heavy rainy season is in September and October. I wonder the rainy season creates a lot of other natural disasters in Haiti.
